Nexus 5 Release Date: Rumored Handset Expected To Be Unveiled With Android 4.4 KitKat At Google Event In NYC Tomorrow

Nexus 5 release date: A mere two days after Apple unveiled its newest desktop OS and the new iPads, Google seems to be in close footsteps as it has sent out the invitations for an October 24 event.

According to reports, Google will likely use tomorrow’s event in NYC to launch the Google Nexus 5 and the Android 4.4 KitKat. The tech giant did not specify anything on the invites and some site like Geek.com and AndroidPolice claim that tomorrow is a non-event, as the company will not be unveiling anything.

Nonetheless, the rumors abuzz and everyone is hopeful that the Nexus 4 successor’s arrival will debuted in the next 24 hours. Initially, rumors have suggested that the Nexus 5 would be launched last October 15. The day came and went without an announcement or clue.

The highly anticipated Nexus 5 is expected to be made by LG and is speculated to come pre-installed with the Android 4.4 KitKat. Rumored specs of the device include a 13MP rearfacing camera and 2MP frontfacing camera, a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 Processor and a 5-inch display with 1080 x 1920 resolution using Corning Gorilla Glass technology.

Other specs include a 2700mAh battery and the Adreno 330 GPU. Similar to the Nexus 4, a leaked manual of the device shown by Phone Arena reveal that LG was the manufacturer of choice by Google for the Nexus 5.

If the rumors are true and the Nexus 5 is launched tomorrow, it will be the last major handset to be released for the year 2013 with next major releases of smartphones to occur in February during the Mobile World Congress in Spain.

Nexus 5 “accidentally” appeared at the Google Play store several days ago with a price of $349.
