The Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini is the mid-range, smaller version of the flagship Galaxy S4 smartphone, IB Times reports.

No specific release date was given by Samsung, implying that the details are left up to the carriers handing out the devices.

"Wireless carriers will announce their specific availability, colors and timing," said Samsung, Top Tech News reports.

As for specs, the 4.3-inch Galaxy S4 Mini will essentially carry similar features and specs found on the international version of the handset.

However, Samsung has doubled the built-in storage capacity in the U.S. version to 16GB, compared to 8GB of internal storage in the international version, IB Times reports.

According to Samsung, the Galaxy S4 Mini will be sold on the release date on AT&T, Verizon, Sprint, and US Cellular beginning next month.

The specs of the Galaxy S4 Mini resembles the premium Galaxy S4, but is packed with lower-end hardware and specs, such as a 4.3-inch qHD display, 1.7GHz dual-core processor, 1.5GB of RAM, 8-megapixel camera, and Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean, IB Times reports. The device also includes Wi-Fi, GPS, NFC, infrared port, a microSD card slot and a 1900mAh battery.

Samsung also said that the Galaxy S4 Mini will receive a software update soon, making it compatible with the Galaxy Gear smartwatch. The Galaxy S4 Mini color options include Black Mist and White Frost.

According to Samsung, users can share content from the mini "to a TV effortlessly, as well as look for something to watch in a new way that lets you browse by genre, search by title or receive recommendations based on your interests."

The mini utilizes "simple file sharing," meaning you can transfer large files, like videos and documents, to other Galaxy phones with S Beam; there will be no need for a Wi-Fi connection or cell signal, Top Tech News reports.
