Windows 8.1 Release Date: New Features Pose Mouse Lag, Problems In Gaming

After months of waiting, the highly-anticipated Windows 8.1 release date was held last week, with the update rolling out to Windows 8 devices as a free optional (recommended) upgrade, while owners of Win7-powered PCs can purchase the upgrade. However, as early as Saturday, several users have already reported that the new version is posing problems when playing certain games.

In a report by GSM Arena, mouse lag issues have been apparent on certain games such as Call Of Duty, Deus Ex: Human Revolution, S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Call of Pripyat, and Metro 2033.

According to several experts, the problem lies on the update's new DPI framework, and currently there is no perfect solution to solve the issue.

Microsoft has put in a lot of time and effort in developing the Windows 8.1 update, which it intends to revive consumer excitement for Windows PCs and tablets. But if issues such as this one continue to plague users, the company better develop a solution now before its reputation suffers even more.
