Julianne Hough Blackface Halloween Costume Pisses People Off, Because Duh. Racist. Very.

Julianne Hough's racist blackface Halloween costume has some up in arms.

Somehow, celebs can't seem to understand that it is never, ever ok to dress in blackface.

The latest celeb to be ridiculously racist/ make a blackface gaffe is former Dancing With the Stars pro Julianne Hough, who was photographed at a Halloween party in dark makeup and a prison jumpsuit. For her Halloween costume, Hough was impersonating the character "Crazy Eyes" from the Netflix series Orange Is the New Black.

Here is the photo of Hough in costume and makeup. Uhhh...yeah. Really, really not OK. Obviously, Twitter/Facebook/whatever else was swift and full of shock and vitriol.

Hough eventually apologized on Twitter, saying,  "I am a huge fan of the show Orange is the New black, actress Uzo Aduba, and the character she has created. It certainly was never my intention to be disrespectful or demeaning to anyone in any way. I realize my costume hurt and offended people and I truly apologize."

Sigh.

Hough may not have tried to deliberately offend, but it's seriously poor judgment-and likely nascent racism-- to even consider donning black makeup; the act ignores the history of white entertainers impersonating and mocking black people via the practice.

In the show Orange Is The New Black, Crazy Eyes, portrayed by Aduba, is a fan favorite known for her intensity.

Aduba's rep also did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
