NBA News Miami Heat- Mike Miller’s Lawyer Claims Player Might Sue The Miami Heat For Introducing Him To A Con Man; Miller Furious Over Leak

Mike Miller's lawyer prepared a draft of a possible lawsuit against the Miami Heat. Now, Miller is angry because of the leak and may not file the complaint.

Former Miami Heat guard Mike Miller, who waived through the amnesty provision and is now a part of the Memphis Grizzlies.

Miller's lawyer, Andrew Fine, said the reason for the possible suit is that Mike Miller holds the Heat team officials responsible for introducing him to Haider Zafar. Zafar is a known Miami 'bling king' and has often claimed to be a member of an immensely wealthy Pakistani family.

However, Zafar actually perpetuated a scam wherein Miller claims to have lost $1.7million.  Zafar was introduced by Stephen Weber, an executive vice president for sales for the Heat. As of now, he is no longer part of the franchise.

Parts of the complaint, which was drafted but not yet filed, were shared with the Miami Herald (in quotes). Important details were statements that Mike Miller"at Weber's urging, met with Zafar at Heat offices." Weber assured Miller that Zafar was "the real deal."

Another aspect of the complaint was that Weber "knew that Zafar had not paid his obligation to the Heat and had disclosed he was using a false, or at least, unofficial, identity and had disclosed he was under IRS investigation."

Thus, the liability of the Heat was summarized as: "Upon discovering information that would have led a reasonable person to conclude that Zafar was a fraud,... the Heat and Weber had a duty to notify Miller, instead of continuing to endorse Zafar.... Due to the acts and omission of the Heat and Weber, Zafar was able to steal a large amount of money from Miller."

UPDATE: Miller is now angered at his lawyer, Andrew Fine, for leaking the complaint and his plans. In a text message to the Associated Press:

"I regret the unauthorized information shared disclosing a potential lawsuit and my private business dealings in the recent news reports. The Heat has always supported me and my family and we are grateful for our relationship with the team and its owners. They have given me and my family more than we could have ever asked for and for that I am so thankful!!"
