World Series Game 4 2013: Red Sox Evens Out The Series With A Three-Run Home Run, Boston Bounces Back After Controversial Call During The Third Game

Boston Red Sox hits a three run home run to tie the series in the World Series Game 4. This game was recorded as the first World Series game to end on a pick off.

The baseball finals again ended with an unusual play.

An obstruction call made by the Sox on the bottom of the ninth in the third game paved a way for the Cardinals to score just one point for the win. Game four on the other hand ended with a pick off at the end of the ninth inning to tie the series two a piece.

Koji Uehara, a dominant closer, was on the mound and the dangerous Carlos Beltran was on the plate. Kolten Wongs was on first base getting too comfortable on a scoring position when Uehara finished with a pass to first base that ended the game.

"I feel bad for the kid. I know he's trying to steal a base or put himself in a position where he can score," Star player Carlos Beltran said. "But the best way for us to pick him up is to come here tomorrow and get a win."

It was however in the fifth inning that when Johnny Gomes stepped on the plate gave Boston a comfortable 4-1 lead.

St. Louis' reliever pitcher Seth Maness was on the mount on the fifth and threw four fastballs. The Cardinals said that they might have underestimated Gomes since he was a hitless man in the whole World Series. They said that he looked lost especially he wasn't part of the original lineup after replacing Shane Victorino.

Gomes said he was speechless and was happy about the winning play he did. "A pretty special moment. If you're looking for words, I don't got much for you."

Game 5 will be tonight at St. Louis.
