NBA Opening Day Matchups, Preview: The Defending Champions Take On The Return Of A Solid Bulls, Heat Will Receive Second Ring

Tomorrow will be the start of the new NBA season and the main event for tomorrow's NBA opening day matchups will be the Miami Heat facing the Chicago Bulls.

One spotlight will be focused on Derrick Rose. Rose missed last year's season after suffering from an ACL injury that sidelined him the entire year.

The former MVP said that this game will not be different from any game they will be playing this season even if they're facing the defending champions.

"I'm looking forward to it, but I'm going to take it as any other game," Rose said during the preseason games. "It's the first game. It's the next game. And we're just trying to sharpen things up, play the same way but just get our chemistry a little bit better."

Bulls coach, Tom Thibodeau, said that they prepared for the season not just to beat the defending champs but also hope to stay on top when the season ends.

"You've got to be ready for them regardless of if it's the first game or not. You've got to be ready for everybody. ... It's important to establish your habits. What goes into to winning is not any different no matter who the opponent is. The fact that they're the defending champions, we know we're going to have to play well to beat them. They don't beat themselves."

Last season's MVP looks up to Rose's courage and determination for sidelining himself and prepared himself to bounce back after a season ending injury.

"They're a rival, the Bulls, but the one thing I kind of envy in the whole Derrick Rose injury thing was when he came out and said he had to be selfish," LeBron James said. "He had to protect himself. A lot of people killed him for not coming back. A lot of people said 'He's practicing, why can't he play?' He basically came out and said he was selfish. He had to do what's best for him. I kind of envy him."

Tomorrow's game will also be the stage for the presentation of championship rings for the Miami Heat after they won the NBA finals last June.
