"The Vampire Diaries" season 5, episode 5 airs this Thursday: watch the new extended promo trailer here! The extended promo trailer of episode 5 of "The Vampire Diaries" season 5 shows that Damon and Elena get to dress up in costumes for a Halloween-themed ball, and Elena and Caroline will mourn Bonnie's death.

In "Monster's Ball," Elena and Damon attend the Whitmore Historical Ball. Elena decides to dress as Anne Boleyn and Damon dresses as Henry VIII. (Fun fact: Anne Boleyn was played by Natalie Portman in the film "The Other Boleyn Girl".)

At the Whitmore Historical Ball, Elena shares a dance with Dr. Maxfield (guest star Rick Cosnett), who will have a disturbing message for her, Hollywood Hills reports.

In the first promo video, Damon flirts with Elena but his girlfriend does not seem to be in the mood to reciprocate his advances. Elena seems to be struggling to accept her best friend Bonnie's tragic death, IB Times reports.

"Vampire Diaries" fans will remember that in episode 4, the gang held a funeral for Bonnie (Kat Graham), after learning that she sacrificed her life for Jeremy's.

Elena and Caroline (Candice Accola) mourn Bonnie's death together in episode 5.

In the extended promo trailer, the "Vampire Diaries" cast also gets ready for some action in this episode: they are planning to fight Silas (Paul Wesley) in order to bring Bonnie back.

"Silas' whole bad guy plan is to kill himself and reunite with his dead girlfriend tomorrow. I wanna use his death to bring Bonnie back to life," Damon declares. IB Times reports.

Jeremy then asks: "You wanna work with Silas?"

However, Bonnie does not like the plan; she's wary of the consequences attached to abusing magic for selfish reasons. But she also feels trapped because she can't do anything from "The Other Side."

Episode 5 is scheduled to air on Thursday night, October 31st at 7pm central time on the CW.
