Derrick Rose Return: Chicago Bulls Win Opening Game At Home, Rose Hits Game Winner Despite Having Neck Problems

Derrick Rose returns to Chicago with a bang winning their first home game of the season by sealing in a game-winning floater from the baseline with 5.7 seconds left on the clock against the New York Knicks.

Rose may have had a rough night by scoring 18 points with seven out of 23 shooting and committing four turnovers but the last shot was all they needed to get the win.

The former MVP who had a sore neck before the start of the game took care of himself during the game by not forcing the ball too much inside the paint. He said that their plays for last night's game was more on the rotation on their big men.

"They're not even letting me get a chance to attack the big like I wanted to. They were jumping out way before I got to the screen. Just trying to make the game simple. Find Joakim or Taj of whoever it is in the middle and they have to make plays from there," the Bulls superstar point guard said.

Last night's home game was the first time Rose has ever played at home court on a regular season game ever since two seasons ago where he injured his ACL in a playoffs game against the Sixers.

The Chicago-native's teammate Taj Gibson said that their first home game with Derrick would be inspirational as it will be the first time fans will be seeing their favorite player on the court.

"When he comes out Thursday, it's going to be real inspirational," Bulls forward Taj Gibson said before the game. "I know he's meant a lot to the city of Chicago, being from there. People love him. I felt it even when he didn't play last year. Because he's a hometown kid. It's rare you get a No. 1 overall pick superstar playing for the hometown team."
