Samsung Galaxy S5 Release Date Set For Q1 2014; Upcoming Flagship Smartphone With Plastic Casing & Eye-Scanner Arriving With Metal Galaxy F Device?

The rumor mill for the Samsung Galaxy S5 release date continues to be in high gear, especially now that 2014 is about to begin.

Basing on the release pattern of Samsung Galaxy S devices, one would expect that Samsung Galaxy S5 release date may be set for March or April. The Samsung Galaxy S2 was launched February 2011 and it arrived on the market in May while the Galaxy S3 was unveiled and released in May 2012, as posted on Digital Trends. And the current flagship smartphone, the Samsung Galaxy S4 were first seen March 2013 and became available on the next month. If Samsung will follow the trend, the forthcoming device will most likely be unleashed on March, and consequently, the Samsung Galaxy S5 release date in the market will be set for around April 2014.

However, rumors about Samsung Galaxy S5 release date are emerging suggesting that Samsung may be releasing the smartphone earlier than expected particularly early part of Q1 2014. If this speculations about the Samsung Galaxy S5 release date push through, tech fans might be able to catch a first glimpse of the device as early as January, which will most likely be followed by a market release on February 2014. Furthermore, some are even suggesting that Samsung Galaxy S5 will be present during the MWC 2014, which is happening on February.

However, all these alleged timeframes for Samsung Galaxy S5 release date are still pure speculations, but the mobile world will definitely be surprised if the South Korean tech company veers away from its regular release schedule.

As for the specs, citing AndroidSAS, the Samsung Galaxy S5 may come with a new biometric feature in the form of a retinal or eye-scanning sensor to unlock the smartphone. Moreover, this eye scanner is also expected to offer a greater level of security, which could take the lead over Apple's iPhone 5S' fingerprint scanning technology.

Moreover, it is also believed that the Samsung Galaxy S5 will be using the similar faux plastic design found on the Galaxy Note 3 and the rumored metal casing will be used for another line of Galaxy device, the Galaxy F. According to Design & Trend, "The thinking behind this is a plastic Galaxy S5 would still be a top-seller and, paired with a metal Galaxy F, would give Samsung two high-end smartphones to compete with the rumored 4.7-inch iPhone 6 and 5.7-inch unnamed iPhones also releasing in 2014."
