Google Glass Review, Price, Release Date: Augmented Reality Lens Now Sporting Sound Search With The Aim Of ‘Building A Great Music Experience’ For Glass

Google Glass review, price and release date: The $1,500 Augmented Reality lens is getting another update from the tech giant that further pushes its attractiveness to the mainstream. It’s latest feature in Glass called Sound Search, makes the AR Lens function like Shazam or SoundHound, with the ability to discover a song playing in the vicinity.

“With these new features, we’re now building a great music experience on Glass, whether you’re a classical music professor, an acclaimed sound engineer and hip hop producer, or someone who wants to listen to their favourite tunes anytime, anywhere,” the director of marketing for Google Glass, Ed Sanders, said in a statement.

When Glass turns on, it will display listen as one of the standard voice commands, together with take a picture and search for a term on Google. With the new update, the user can name a song or artist and then stream music via Play, Google’s version of iTunes and the App store. Glass owners can also link their Play accounts for the device to gain access to playlists and song recommendations based on what they have listened in the past.

Aside from the new music feature, Google is also introducing a set of earbud headphones designed just for Glass. It will available by month’s end for $85.

According to the Financial Review, the new features expanded the practical use of Glass and further addresses doubts on whether the AR lens will catch on with consumers. In recent updates, Glass features has centered on the practical - including easier access to your home route and the ability to reserve restaurants and book hotels with the lens.

Google has also been actively expanding the reach of Glass, possibly with the intent of gauging interest and features request in a wider scale.

In an earlier announcement, the Glass Project now gives current Explore members the ability to invite up to three friends interested in having their own AR lens. New Explore members will have to shell-out the same entry-level fee of $1,500 paid by early adopters.
