Miley Cyrus confirmed that she was smoking a joint on stage at the EMAs. The “Wrecking Ball” singer didn’t think much about it except that it would be funny.

For those just tuning in, Miley Cyrus lit up a loosely rolled fattie when was accepting an award for her "Wrecking Ball" music video at this year's MTV European Music Awards. It has prompted just as much controversy as the Miley Cyrus VMAs 2013 performance.

Miley Cyrys told Britain's Capital FM radio station "I was just walking out of my room and then I was like, 'Oh, I have this in my bag. That will be really funny.' And I didn't say anything to anybody. It's not that I think about that ... and I don't tell anyone I'm gonna do it. I just did it mostly because I knew the fans in Amsterdam would love it, and they started going crazy when I did it... But I don't really care what the media says because I don't google myself, so I don't know what they say. And I don't care."

It isn’t true that smoking pot in public is legal in Amsterdam. All drugs, including marijuana, are illegal in the Netherlands. Miley Cyrus was still breaking the law. In the Netherlands cannabis is classified as a "soft drug." It can be sold at coffee shops but you can’t get high in public.

The Netherland’s government hasn't issued any comment.
