Jamie Dornan spoke to Entertainment Weekly in a new interview about the "Fifty Shades of Grey" movie and his role as Christian Grey. He revealed that after Charlie Hunnam dropped out, Universal Pictures and Focus Features flew him out to Los Angeles for "an intense, one-day long audition opposite Dakota Johnson," Entertainment Weekly reports, according to HNGN.

Dornan said he and Johnson reenacted the first time Ana and Christian meet in his Seattle office, and Ana has to interview him for her college newspaper.

"The interview scene is sort of a condensed version of the journey that the two of them go on. There are so many layers in it. It's a beast," Dornan said.

They also acted out "the climactic scene near the end of the book."

"There's quite a lot going on in both scenes," Dornan added.

How is Jamie handling the increased media and paparazzi attention? He told Entertainment Weekly it's been an adjustment, especially now that his pregnant wife, Amelia Warner, is due in a couple of weeks. (Warner will deliver their baby in Vancouver, where "Fifty Shades" is set to film.)

"It's happening, but not in an unmanageable way at the moment," Dornan said of the paparazzi. "I've been around it before and it's ugly, but I'm glad I'm 31 and not 21, and married. I feel very settled. I'm not running in and out of clubs at 5 a.m. anymore."

Dornan also said his family has been supportive of his new role, with his father and sisters offering their encouragement.

But his friends are taking the opportunity to tease Jamie on playing kinky control freak Christian Grey.

Dornan said: "A friend of mine texted me saying, 'I heard about Fifty Shades. Congratulations on the role. That's going to be disgusting. I won't watch it.'" 

Don't worry, Jamie, we're sure there will be lots of girls waiting with baited breath for the release of "Fifty Shades of Grey" on Valentine's Day weekend, 2015.
