‘Vampire Diaries’ Season 5 Spoilers: Will Stefan and Caroline ‘Get In The Sack’? Paul Wesley Says Their Relationship ‘Needs To Happen’

"Vampire Diaries" season 5 has taken a lot of twists and turns this season, and Paul Wesley, who plays Stefan on "Vampire Diaries," hints some spoiler details: that Stefan and Caroline may have a romance brewing! Sorry, Stelena fans!

Stefan and Caroline have been close ever since Stefan helped Caroline deal with becoming a vampire in season two of "The Vampire Diaries," E! News reports. Since then, it's almost impossible to miss the sexual tension between the two when they have scenes alone together.

E! News asked actor Paul Wesley what he thought about the possibility of a Stefan-Caroline relationship - and his answer will shock you, and maybe hint at some spoilers!

"Yeah, I can see that happening and I think it will happen. It's been a very slow process. They like to really take their time with it. They've been sort of hinting at it and teasing it, but it hasn't materialized," he said.

Wesley revealed he hopes to see their relationship evolve very soon, including some potentially steamy scenes.

"Hopefully within this season. They don't have very much time left for Stefan and Caroline to get in the sack. That, I think, needs to happen."

But let's not forget Caroline is a huge proponent of Elena and Stefan being together, and has even referred to Stefan as Elena's "epic love."

So what did Candice Accola, who plays Caroline, think of something developing between her character and Paul's?

"I can see why viewers of the show see a Caroline and Stefan connection of sorts; I don't think the characters themselves really think anything of it, if I had to jump into the Caroline brain," she explained, E! News reports. "But I can see them growing as friends, it's really up to the writers where these characters are going to go."

"I think Caroline truly believes Stefan and Elena are supposed to be together, so I can't imagine her, at this time, trying to get in the way of that," she added.

Candice and Paul seem to have very different opinions on a Steroline relationship. But as Candice said, it's "up to the writers." We'll have to wait and see where season 5 of "Vampire Diaries" takes us.

"The Vampire Diaries" airs Thursday at 8 p.m. EST on the CW.
