PlayStation 4 Release Date News: 1 Million PS4 Sold During The First 24 Hours; Sony Expecting To Sell 5M Units By The End Of Fiscal Year

Last Friday, November 15, PlayStation 4 release date finally happened in US and Canada.

And just recently, fresh PlayStation 4 release date news was announced, indicating a milestone for the newest game console in town. As posted on NY Times, one million PlayStation 4 consoles were bought in its first 24 hours as it arrived on the market.

The announcement regarding the PlayStation 4 release sales was made by Andrew House, the president and group CEO for Sony Computer Entertainment Inc. He said that the PS4 sales remain strong in North America.

Furthermore, PlayStation 4 release date for Europe, Australia and Latin America is set for November 29, and it will be followed by 10 more countries by the end of the year.

As House said, "Sales remain very strong in North America, and we expect continued enthusiasm as we launch the PlayStation 4 in Europe and Latin America..."

Moreover, as posted on Star Tribune, Sony is expecting to sell 5 million units of the PlayStation 4 by the end of the fiscal year in March.

Meanwhile, there are negative feedbacks about the PlayStation 4 reporting about technical problems with the consoles. Citing reviews on Amazon, the post on NY Times said that many customers said their PlayStation 4 console "stopped functioning after a short period of playing or didn't work at all."

And to respond to the issue, Dan Race, the spokesman for US video games division of Sony said, "This is within our expectations for a new product introduction, and the vast majority of PS4 feedback has been overwhelmingly positive."

He further continued, "We are closely monitoring for additional reports, but we think these are isolated incidents and represent a very small percentage of total units shipped to consumers to date."

The PlayStation 4 will face competition with a game console from Microsoft Corp, the Xbox One, which will be on sale starting this week.
