YG Entertainment has officially begun their global expansion with leading artists such as Big Bang and 2NE1. YG Entertainment announced on March 15, YG is close to establishing ‘YG USA’ for their artists to advance in US while ‘YG Hong Kong’ would be for Asian market.

According to an YG representative, the company has been preparing for global expansion since spring of last year and working hard for the preparations for the establishment of each branch offices in US and Hong Kong this spring, and now has finished the preparations and is waiting for a formal announcement.

Big Bang has made their comeback this year accordingly and with the release of their new album has kicked off their first world tour. The group took the first step out towards the world by holding their ‘2012 BIG SHOW/BIGBANG ALIVE TOUR’ in partnership with Live Nation, the world’s largest concert organizer who have worked with Lady Gaga, Madonna and Beyonce on March 2-4 at Seoul Olympic Gymnastic Stadium driving 40,000 fans into excitement.

YG branch offices in the US and Hong Kong plans are different from the traditional way of marketing the company’s artists overseas. Rather than hiring local coordinators in the country they will be entering, the branch offices will be working together with the domestic agency to help the company’s artist enter the overseas market which will allow the artists to work with their own domestic company’s office staff.

Meanwhile YG has taken advantage of YouTube and other social networks such as Twitter as marketing tools. Allowing artists such as Big Bang to top the charts in iTunes and other international music charts, without any overseas activities and promotions. YG expects with help of branch office like YG USA their idol groups like Big Bang and 2NE1 will be receiving full support and necessary manpower to bring their music to a wider and larger international audience which in return will increase their fan base.

In addition Big Bang has made the honor to be featured on Grammy main site along with Adele, Paul McCartney and also earned the honor to be covered on the main page of Billboard music site.
