Upcoming Windows Phones 2014: Sony Reportedly Working With Microsoft To Release First Ever Windows Phone-Powered Handset

Sony has been one of the steady performers in the Android platform, though it has not yet made a big splash in terms of sales compared to heavyweight Samsung. On the other hand, Microsoft's Windows Phone has always been seen as an underdog OS in terms of function app development.

Now, it seems the two manufacturers are working together to develop the very first Sony handset with the Windows Phone OS.

According to an interview with TechRadar, Sony Mobile head in Europe Pierre Perron said that the manufacturer is currently in talks with Microsoft as well as other companies in expanding the Japanese manufacturer's range of smartphones.

In the report by GSM Arena, Perron is said to be dealing with "other partners, including Microsoft" in order to deliver more handsets to customers this year. Speaking in behalf of the company, he even said that "We don't want to be a single OS manufacturer".

Rumors are claiming that the first Windows Phone 8-powered Sony handset would be announced at the middle of this year.
