"We're just not getting it done right now," Chad Johnson, who made 16 saves Thursday after replacing Rask, who told ESPN.com. "We just need to regroup and take as many positives as we can from these games and realize what we need to do to have success and win games. I think it just comes down to intensity and that passion to want to win games. That's what we're lacking."

The Bruins' power play has come up empty in a season-high four straight games, going 0 for 10, and their penalty kill has yielded eight goals in their opponents' last 21 chances, according to ESPN.com.

 "We know we can play much better than we are right now," captain Zdeno Chara said. "That's what's frustrating. We need to get our game back. It's not going to happen overnight, and it's not going to happen by trying to make some high-risk plays. We've just got to stay patient and slowly gain our game back. We've just got to grind it out."

Injury report, according to NHL.com:

"Boston forward Loui Eriksson (concussion) was cleared for contact but didn't play Thursday. Forward Chris Kelly (ankle) remains out. ... San Jose defenseman Matt Irwin (upper body) is day-to-day. Forwards Logan Couture (hand), Marty Havlat (lower body), Tomas Hertl (knee), Adam Burish (lower body) and Raffi Torres (knee) are on injured reserve."
