Evander Holyfield Big Brother House Exit; Was He Evicted Because Of His Anti-Gay Slur Or Was He Betrayed By His Housemates?

Retired professional boxer Evander Holyfield was among those who made the biggest buzz when he entered the Big Brother House in the United Kingdom this month. However, that fuss wasn't enough to keep him there for long.

On the eighth day of the show, the Real Deal was booted out of the contest, becoming the first contestant to leave the house. Holyfield never get to control his mouth while in the show that is full of cameras. In many instances, he was caught saying discriminatory things, which got him tagged as anti-gay. In a chit chat with the Apprentice runner-up Luisa Zissman, he talked about the lack of openly gay sports stars.

Ofcom, a government-approved regulatory and competition authority for the broadcasting, telecommunications and postal industries of the United Kingdom, even suggested to conduct an investigation regarding Holyfield's comments. The former world champion was given a warning by Big Brother for his words.

Although he somehow got away with his offensive comments, Holyfield, along with Luisa, were automatically nominated for first eviction for failing to complete their task. When the voting comes, former boyband Blue member Lee Ryan and model Casey Batchelor were put in hot water after a twist that made them the sole decider of who is going to leave between Holyfield and Luisa. They decided to save Luisa instead of the boxer because they were friends with her on the outside.

Shortly after Holyfied got back in the real world, he immediately made a public apology for his words. Talking to Sunday Express, he said:

"I do owe an apology for what I said, but in that situation I felt I was talking to one person and I was telling that one person my view.

"I had completely forgotten about the cameras. I wanted to express how I felt about it, it was not that I was trying to push my views on to people, it was saying this is how I was raised, it wasn't to the whole world. So I am going to make a public apology about that because I am sorry for anybody that I offended."
