Star Wars Episode 7 News Update: J.J. Abrams Explains Why They Have To Keep Everything A Secret – ‘There's A Purity In Not Knowing Every Little’

Star Wars Episode 7 News Update:

Director J.J. Abrams had a talk with The Daily Telegraph on January 25, and he opened up why he had to keep things under wrap concerning every little detail about the movie.

"[Star Wars] has always been a more open, fan-engaged universe than I've been used to, there'll be some sort of compromise...there's a purity in not knowing every little thing [about a story ahead of time]," Abrams said. "We're living in a moment of instant information and a sense of entitlement to that information. I think it's nice to remember that there's nothing wrong with a sense of anticipation."

Meanwhile, despite Walt Disney's attempt to keep things under wrap as far as Star Wars Episode 7 casting is concerned, the press has its way of getting the news from the stars themselves.

The latest, but most certainly not the least star to spill the beans is Carrie Fisher, who has revealed to TV Guide that she will be back for Episode 7 to reprise her role as Princess Leia, although this isn't the first time for the veteran Star Wars actress to claim such news.

Fisher revealed that she together with two other veteran actors Harrison Ford and Mark Hamill are getting ready for the filming on March or April, as the script has just recently been finished.

Both Ford and Hamill will be back to reprise their respective roles on the film, Ford as Han Solo while Hamill as Luke Skywalker.

"I'd like to wear my old hairstyle again, but with white hair" Fisher admitted to TV Guide, referring to Leia's iconic cinnamon bun hairdo.

"I think that would be funny," she quipped.

On the other hand, Mark Hamill refuses to join Fisher's revelation as he has told in a Q&A portion on Reddit:

"The only character I know for sure is returning is my friend R2-D2. He hasn't stopped beeping about it.

I'm not being coy, really. When I find something out, I'll let everybody know. But nothing has been decided yet"

As far as Star Wars Episode 7 casting rumors go, the return of the three veteran actors on the film, are the most likely to become a reality, as it has previously been reported that this episode would focus on Luke Skywalker, Princess Leia and Han Solo, before they'll be given a proper send off.

With the film scheduled for release on December 18 next year, it's most likely that we'll be getting more revelations on the plot and casting of the film.
