Cate Blanchett Movies: Cate Blanchett is a dragon protector in the upcoming movie  "How to Train Your Dragon 2." Cate will play a woman who spent so much time with dragons that she is one. The role was written specifically for Blanchett.

According to director Dean DeBlois, Cate Blanchett will star in the sequel to "How to Train Your Dragon." Oscar-winner Cate Blanchett will play the dragon protector, Valka.

"How to Train Your Dragon 2" takes place five years the Pax Dragonus that was called by Hiccup, the heir to the throne of Berk. Staring a new era of peace between humans and dragons. Cate Blanchett will protect those dragons.

Cate Blanchett joins Jay Baruchel, who returns as Hiccup, Gerard Butler who plays Stoick the Vast and Kristen Wiig who is back as Ruffnut. Also new to the "How to Train Your Dragon" family are Djimon Hounsou from "Guardians of the Galaxy" as a dragon hunter, Drago Bludvist.

Dean DeBlois told USA Today that Valka was written specifically with Blanchett in mind. He says "[Valka has been] living with the animals and learning to communicate with them in non-verbal ways and becoming much like a dragon herself. Her years of isolation and dealing with nothing but dragons and being very sympathetic to them has made her very distrusting of humans."

DeBlois told USA Today "[Hiccup] both admires her but sees her as what his life could be like taken to the extreme... Valka's life is not only learning about all (the dragons') secrets and ways and living among them, but also playing among them. That's part of what she can show Hiccup, things he's never known about dragon behavior."

"How to Train Your Dragon" was huge at the box office, not just because of the animation but also because of the acting.
