Windows Phone 8.1 Release Date Draws Near As Live Photos Of Notification Center Surfaces, New Update Rumored To Get Siri-Like Voice Assistant Cortana From Halo

For Nokia users, you may have been waiting for the Windows Phone 8.1 release date which would expectedly improve user interface and performance. But several months into Microsoft's Build conference, a live photo of the update's notification center appears.

In a report by GSM Arena, an alleged live image of the notification center of Windows Phone 8.1 was leaked through Twitter by Nawzil. As the photo shows, the notification center now offers quick slots where users can assign up to four shortcuts. In the image, the assigned shortcuts are cellular data, brightness, Wi-Fi and airplane.

Judging from the image, we can assume that Microsoft plans to include all the necessary tools and options in the notification center, in order to function in the same way as Android's own notifications tab.

Aside from the vastly improved notification center, the Windows Phone 8.1 update is also rumored to get a new voice assistant which can allegedly match with iOS's Siri.

As with the previous reports, the 8.1 update for Microsoft's mobile platform is shaping up to be a big step for the Redmond giant in further increasing its customer base in markets around the world.
