Blackberry Z10 Is Now Able To Sideload Android Apps Following BB10 10.2.1 Update, Blackberry Running On Stock-ish Android Finally Possible

The Blackberry Z10 represents every failure in the book for the Canada-based company. However, hardware-wise it is still pretty decent for a smartphone - and also offers a lot of potential when it runs Android apps.

For some time now, Z10 users have discovered that their devices can run Android apks by just changing the format from .BAR to .APK. However, in a recent update to BB10 OS, that's not necessary anymore.

In a report by Android Authority, Blackberry Z10 users can now install Android apps directly from their browsers due to the 10.2.1 update which was released a couple of days ago.

This means there isn't much difference now between an Android phone and a Blackberry Z10. Throw in Nova Launcher or any third-party launcher capable of bringing a stock-ish Android look on your BB10-powered device and you can even change the user interface.

Is this step pointing to Blackberry's plan to switch to Android, or at least provide an option for its loyal fans? As the Mobile World Congress approaches, we may soon find the answer.
