Upcoming Android Phones 2014: HTC Launches New Desire Handset, Midrange Specs Include 4.5" Display, Quad-Core MediaTek Chipset, 512MB Of RAM

After the CES event in Las Vegas earlier this month, there are already a bunch of upcoming Android phones in 2014 that are all aiming to get noticed. But as far as HTC is concerned, getting noticed is not the problem - but making sales. Now, the Taiwanese manufacturer has unveiled a new member of its Desire lineup, the HTC Desire 310. Boasting midrange specs, the 4.5-inch Desire 310 is the company's first handset that is packed by a quad-core MediaTek processor clocked at 1.3GHz. Aside from that, it also has 512MB of RAM for discrete multi-tasking, a 5-megapixel camera and a VGA camera in front. Other notable specs include 4GB of internal memory with microSD card expansion, a 2,000mAh battery and a slightly outdated Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean out of the box. HTC has not been doing well in terms of sales, but that's not due to the fact that it is developing poorly-designed and insufficiently-spec'd smartphones. They key to market success in this industry is a strong and well-funded marketing team, and that's one of the few advantages of tech giants Apple and Samsung. HTC may be providing the best hardware and design in the Android world, but unless it changes its marketing strategy, then it will remain at third or fourth place in the market share race.
