Super Bowl 2014 National Anthem Beautifully Sang By Opera Singer! [VIDEO] Renee Flemings Makes History SInging At Monumental Football Game On Sunday

Super Bowl 2014 National Anthem 2014 was sang beautifully by an opera singer for the first time in Super bowl history! Renee Fleming used her lyric Soprano super pipes to belt out the national anthem, opening up for the most watched show of 2014.

At MetLife Stadium last night the 2014 Super Bowl was kicked off with the four time Grammy winner singing the national anthem to 96.9 million viewers. The rendition ran for 2 minutes and 10 seconds and was called "the best version of the National Anthem I've ever heard' by the announcer. She certainly is very talented.

The SUper Bowl has recently chosen more mainstream performers to sing the national anthem for the Super Bowl. Alicia Keys, Kelly Clarkson, Christina Aguilera, Carrie Underwood and Jennifer Hudson sang the national anthem at the last five Super Bowls. Having an unknown opera singer sing the anthem is a big move for the NFL and proved to be a great decision.

This wasn't Fleming's first huge event to sing at. The 54-year-old opera singer also performed at President Obama's first Inaugural celebration in 2009 and at Queen Elizabeth's Diamond Jubilee in June 2012.

On February 2, 2014, the MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey, hosted Super Bowl XLVIII. It was fitting that Fleming be the first opera singer to perform as she lives in New York.

Fleming performs at New York venues and is currently starring in Rusalka at the Metropolitan Opera.
