NBA Transactions 2013-2014 Season, Update: Is Andrew Bynum The Key For The Indiana Pacers’ Championship Dreams?

NBA Transactions 2013-2014 Season, Update: Andrew Bynum has been in a lot of trouble lately, particularly in the last two seasons. It first started when he got traded out of Lakers to Philadelphia where he was sidelined for the entire season due to injury.

He then got moved to the Cleveland Cavaliers where they thought they would get more wins and finally get the success they were longing for since the departure of LeBron in Ohio to Miami. They were wrong.

Bynum played very minimally with the Cavs after returning from injury but later said that he opted not play anymore. Critics were saying that the heart of this player for basketball might be gone.

With Chicago Bulls looking for some cap space for future use, they traded star Luol Deng for Bynum with exchange for future draft picks and eventually waived him.

In just a span of a few weeks, Bynum was picked up by the Indiana Pacers where they believe that the nine-year veteran can be a solid addition to their team and believes that he can do really good for their team.

"I heard that but we don't do that," Pacers President Larry Bird said, after getting rumors that they picked Bynum to prevent Miami or any other top team from picking him. "We don't have the money to throw around to bring guys in and let them sit on our bench just because somebody else wants them. I don't know who came up with that but that's about the dumbest thing I've ever heard."

Bynum can be a good back-up big man for their all star center Roy Hibbert as said by Frank Vogel, believing the potential of the former Lakers big man can make a huge difference for them.

"The game changes when you have to attack somebody with that size," Pacers coach Frank Vogel said, "and you have to account for him when he's on offense. I feel like he's a difference maker, that's why he's here."

Another All-Star from the team, Paul George thinks that even though this could be a gamble for their team looking for the big prize this season, it could pay off really well if Bynum would step up and help them grab the trophy by the end of the season.

"You can't pass up on a huge talent like that and I expect him to be able to help us if he comes in with an attitude to buy into our program," George said. "He'll have to prove a lot to himself, whether he wants to play or not. If he comes in ready to go, ready to put in the work, really buying into our program, we have no problem being there for him."

George concluded: "But with him, it's 'ifs' because he's been through so many programs in the early stage [of his career]. Whether he wants to stay committed to us is ... a big gamble on our behalf."
