PS Vita Slim Release Date In The UK Set For February 7; Console’s Thinner Version Gets A Cheaper Price Of £180; Available Only In Black

Sony recently announced the PS Vita Slim release date in the UK.

On January 30, the PlayStation maker revealed that the PS Vita Slim release date will be set for February 7 in United Kingdom, as posted on PC Advisor. Aside from the details about PS Vita Slim release date, Sony also revealed the pricing for the slimmer version of the console. With model number PCH-2000, PS Vita Slim will be available for an estimated price point of £180.

Accordingly, the PS Vita Slim price is a lot cheaper than the cost of the original PS Vita which launched at £229 for the Wi-Fi only model.

PS Vita Slim was first unveiled before the Tokyo Game Show event last year, and it arrived to Japan shortly after the announcement.

A portion of the review from Eurogamer reads:

The new PCH-2000 model is a fine piece of hardware that retains much of the premium feel and quality construction associated with the original Vita console, but also improves upon it with regards to the slimmer form factor and more textured feel.

Moreover, according to PS Vita Slim release date and specs reports, the new console is 15 % lighter and 20% thinner than the original version. PS Vita Slim is "finished off with more curved edges," according to Eurogamer.

However, the screen display was changed to lower grade and less impressive 960 x 544 IPS LCD from the 960 x 544 OLED screen found on the original PS Vita Slim.

The PS Vita Slim spec also includes 1 GB of internal storage, as well as a Micro-USB charging port. The battery life also improves as users can get up to six hours of gameplay, according to the game company.

PS Vita Slim is available in Japanese market in various colors. However, the PS Vita Slim will only be sold in black in the UK, as posted on CNET.

Meanwhile, Sony has not yet revealed a PS Vita Slim release date for the US market.
