Philip Seymour Hoffman's death came as a shock to the actors who worked with him. The last movie he was working on was the last installments of  The Hunger Games and Elizabeth Banks and Jennifer Lawrence, who co-starred with Philip Seymour Hoffman are still reeling.

"Hunger Games" star Elizabeth Banks said she was in shock over losing co-star Philip Seymour Hoffman. While appearing on the morning program "The Today Show," Elizabeth Banks was asked to comment on the death of her The Hunger Games: Catching Fire co-star Philip Seymour Hoffman.

Banks, who plays Effie Trinkett in the "Hunger Games" franchise, said, "I'm still processing it. I really am in shock. He is an absolutely amazing actor, respected by everyone and part of our family at The Hunger Games. We will miss him terribly, and obviously, [we're] really upset for his children and his partner. It's just a tragedy."

The 46-year-old Oscar-winning actor Philip Seymour Hoffman was found dead from an apparent heroin overdose in his New York City apartment on Feb. 2. Hoffman joined the cast of The Hunger Games in the  2013's sequel Catching Fire. Hoffman played head gamemaker Plutarch Heavensbee. He also will be seen in the final two installments of "The Hunger Games." Reports says Hoffman's work on the "Hunger Games" films as rebel leader Plutarch Heavensbee was largely complete. Hoffman had just seven days left to shoot on "Mockingjay Part II." The studio believes that Hoffman's death won't alter production schedules or release dates.

Elizabeth Banks was promoting her role as master builder Wyldstyle in the animated film "The Lego Movie," which opens this Friday.

A statement from the Actress Jennifer Lawrence , director Francis Lawrence and "The Hunger Games" author Suzanne Collins, reads, "Words cannot convey the devastating loss we are all feeling right now. Philip was a wonderful person and an exceptional talent, and our hearts are breaking. Our deepest condolences go out to his family."

The medical examiner announced that an autopsy of the late actor was inconclusive and that more tests would be needed to determine his cause of death. Officials said that the heroin found in Hoffman's apartment did not contain the pain reliever fentanyl, which has killed 22 people in Pennsylvania.

When the police went to Hoffman's Manhattan apartment on Sunday shortly after 11:30 a.m., they found him lying on the bathroom floor with a syringe in his left arm. According to law enforcement sources, the actor was wearing eyeglasses, shorts and a T-shirt. Two clear envelopes of what appeared to be heroin were found nearby. Eight empty envelopes also were discovered in the apartment.

Hoffman is survived by his partner of 15 years, designer Mimi O'Donnell, as well as a 10-year-old son and two daughters, 7 and 5.
