Lorde Tour 2014 [Watch Video]: Grammy Award Winning Pop Sensation Performs A Cover Of James Blake’s ‘Retrograde’ In Australia

Lorde Tour 2014 News:

The "Royals" singer has performed her version of James Blake's song "Retrograde" during her Australian tour - aka Yelich O'Connor.

The 17-year old award winning singer has reportedly performed the cover for triple J's "Like A Version" as well.

Lorde debuted her version of "Retrograde" at the Auckland leg for the Laneway Festival last week, which you can watch here:

Before her performance at Triple J's the multiple Grammy-award winning pop sensation told Matt and Alex about her plans to draw her experiences as a pop star for her upcoming material. "What I'm going through is so abnormal and I feel like a lot of people at my level don't write about it, because a lot of what we do is boring," she explained. "[But] it's interesting to me to write about the weird little details of what we do."

Meanwhile, the 17-year old pop teen sensation has announced her North American tour in 2014.

Despite her biggest 2013 hit 'Royals' the pop star from New Zealand still doesn't want to be called a "teen hottie."

From her interview with New York Times via Skype, Lord made it clear that she is not a "teen hottie," saying: "The phrase 'teen hottie' literally makes me want to throw up."

The Grammy-award singer also claimed that her music is something her generation could relate to.

"I'm trying to make something people my age will care about, trying to keep my peers feeling like I'm doing something for them or representing them in some way."

Unlike "Twerking Queen" pop star Miley Cyrus, Lorde is not playing any character to sell herself. She claims that she maintains full control over her packaging as an artist. She even divulged that she has turned down millions of dollars worth to maintain her true identity.

"I would like to think that my public persona comes naturally to me and isn't that dissimilar to my real way of doing things," she revealed. "I've turned down easily millions of dollars doing what I do and saying no to things that I think are corny."

Her "Royals" single is definitely a proof to this statement. She may not be presented as a typical pop star, but the singing sensation claims that she is a "pop princess at heart."

"Some people love writing about that, and that's fine," she said about love songs. "But I personally haven't found a way to do it yet which is innovative and feels new to me."

Ella Maria Lani Yelich-O'Connor famous for her stage name Lorde is vying for four Grammy nominations. Her single "Royals" is nominated for the Record of the Year, Song of the Year, and Best Pop Solo Performance, while her album entitled "Pure Heroine" is nominated for Best Pop Vocal Album.
