New Android Phones 2014: Gionee Unleashes World's Slimmest Smartphone, Packs 5" Screen, Octa-Core Chipset, 2GB RAM, 13MP Camera, Costs Only $370

New Android phones 2014: Almost two months in the year and we have already seen a number of surprising launches from both huge and small mobile makers alike. But this one may just get your interest as well.

If you have been complaining about the bulk that your phone makes whenever it is in your pocket, then you better take a look at this one. According to the report from GSM Arena, this smartphone could be so thin you hardly notice that it's actually there.

Dubbed as the Gionee Elife S5.5, this Android-powered handset only measures 5.55mm in width, making it the world's slimmest smartphone to date. Considering that it packs a 2,300mAh battery and a 5-inch screen, that measurement is certainly a feat. In comparison, the former slimmest handset was the Huawei Ascend P6 which has a 6.2mm waistline.

The iPhone 5s is much thicker compared to both devices, with its waist measuring 7.6mm.

However, the Elife S5.5 is not only pure looks. The device is also powered by an octa-core chipset with cores clocked at 1.7GHz, 2GB of RAM, 13MP rear camera and a 5MP front cam.

According to the report, the Gionee Elife S5.5 will hit stores in China any minute from now and costs just $370. The device will then hit 40 other countries in the following months.
