Girls’ Generation (SNSD) Became a Million Album Seller in Korea

Popular girl group Girls’ Generation surpassed 1 million album sales in Korea.

According to Gaon Chart Girls’ Generation’s third studio album ‘The Boys’ recorded a total of 410,542 copies since April of this year.

This figure is based off the album sales beginning of 2010 and Girls’ Generation is so far the first and only artist to surpass 400,000 copies with a single album not including repackaged album sales.

Girls Generation’s second studio album ‘Oh’ has sold 218,522 copies till last year, ‘Run Devil Run’ sold 168,988 copies, and ‘Hoot’ recorded 180,825 copies up to last year. This brings the total to 978,888 copies. If we include Girls’ Generation’s hit songs of ‘Gee’ and ‘Tell Me Your Wish’ that were released before Gaon Chart began to keep track of album sales then the total number easily goes over a million.

Girls’ Generation first sub-unit TaeTiSeo first mini-album title song ‘Twinkle’ reached 604,870 downloads, making the group top the weekly download chart.
