Upcoming Blackberry Phones 2014: BB OS Joins Voice Assistant War In New Update, Other Improvements Include New Themes, Keyboard, Other Cool Features

Upcoming Blackberry phones 2014: 2013 was a disastrous year for Blackberry and its homegrown OS, the BB OS. And in the first few months of the year, the company aims to make a huge turn with an update.

According to a report by GSM Arena, the company is already preparing the release of an upcoming update.

In the report, some of the changes of the OS would include a simpler and cleaner UI, a new virtual keyboard, new themes for the smartphone, and other tweaks that would make it run better in Blackberry devices.

However, what would be interesting is the voice assistant app that the new version will boast. We still don't know whether it would be on par with iOS's Siri, Android's Google Voice, or the upcoming Cortana assistant from Windows Phone.

Last year, we all thought Blackberry would finally come to an end amidst reports of sale to other manufacturers. But after a failed sales to a financial company, the company picked a new CEO and managed to continue developing smartphones, at the same time trying to improve its own mobile platform.

While Blackberry OS is still a long way from catching up to the third biggest platform, Windows Phone, it is good to know that the company hasn't given up on the fight yet.
