OnePlus One Shifts Its Marketing Assault On Newly-Launched HTC One (M8), Upcoming Smartphone Looks Faster And Higher-Spec'd In Paper, Costs Under $400

OnePlus One: We have been hearing a lot about the upcoming OnePlus One smartphone, and in a recent report it has been pegged for an April 23rd release in China. However, it looks like the smartphone is already waging war against its competitors, particularly the freshly-announced HTC One (M8).

According to a report by Android Authority, the Chinese company has just released an image pitting its OnePlus One handset and the HTC One (M8) head to head in a spec war. And from what we see from the image, the unannounced device is the clear winner.

In the spec battle, the OnePlus One clearly wins as far as display (5.5-inches over 5-inches), camera (13MP over 4MP), and pricing (less than $400 against around $600) are concerned.

However, we still cannot argue that the OnePlus One's IPS w/ CABC & DRAM display are indeed better than the HTC One (M8)'s LCD 3 screen, though the longer name may suggest it.

As for the lone HTC logo at the bottom of the screen where the capacitive buttons used to be, it is indeed much better if the logo were placed on top instead. And OnePlus One bashes the Taiwanese manufacturer for the wrong design decision.

The OnePlus One will finally be released on April 23 and will run on CyanogenMod's take on Android. While that may not appeal to some fans, it is definitely a beast in its own right.

We'll see in the next month whether the upcoming OnePlus device is all fluff or not.
