Upcoming HTC Phones 2014: Octa-Core-Powered Midranger Desire 616 Appears In Chinese Website, Specs Include 5" Display, 1GB RAM, 8-Megapixel Shooter With LED Flash

Upcoming HTC phones 2014: As if the HTC One (M8) isn't enough, the Taiwanese manufacturer is already gearing to release another handset, this time a midrange device aimed at the Chinese market.

According to a report by GSM Arena, the midrange Desire 616 has been spotted on Chinese website Tenaa, which is the equivalent of the FCC in the world's largest smartphone market.

And because it has already surfaced, complete with its basic specs, it only means it has already been approved for launch anytime soon.

Design-wise, it looks like HTC is borrowing a lot from its One lineup, and the Desire 616 looks like an HTC One (M7) painted red. Unfortunately, the Android-powered smartphone does not sport the former flagship's BoomSound speakers, further cementing its place as a midrange device.

On the plus side, the smartphone is powered by an octa-core MediaTek CPU with eight cores running at 1.7GHz for above-average performance. Also on board is 1GB of RAM, a 5-inch display with HD (720p) resolution, and an 8-megapixel camera.

However, if you are a fan of phones running in the latest Android version you will be disappointed to know that the Desire 616 is only powered by Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean. Still, the Taiwanese can patch things up and release it with Kitkat out of the box.

We will bring you more details about the HTC Desire 616 in the coming days.
