Nokia X: Announced at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona last February, the Nokia X garnered both excitement and disappointment from people who have been expecting it for months. 

While the premise that Nokia finally launches an Android device is certainly exciting, the fact that it limited the platform and restricted it access to Google apps and services are totally disappointing. 

So if you have not made the jump to the Finnish manufacturer's first droid due to this reason, then this new update can change your mind. 

According to a report by GSM Arena, some of the guys at the XDA Developers Forum have found a way to install an AOSP ROM. This means that Nokia X smartphones with this ROM installed can enjoy vanilla (pure) Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean. 

The build was based on Code Aurora branch jb_rel_2.0.3 and was developed by senior member dhacker29, the same guy who brought the AOSP ROM to the Motorola Moto G a few months ago. 

Fortunately, most of the Nokia X apps are working according to the report. This includes the FM Radio, dual-SIM support and the phone's stock camera. However, one problem is the single navigation key found in the Nokia X. 

To solve this problem, a new version was recently released which featured on-screen buttons. 

The Nokia X looked like the answer to all your questions. Nokia only launched it so that Android would look dull and not enjoyable to use for those who would buy this device. 

Aside from the Nokia X, the company also announced the Nokia X+ and Nokia XL during its press event at MWC. And because we love Android, we sure hope dhacker29 would also come up with something to provide an AOSP ROM for these two devices. 

And once the Finnish manufacturer's mobile department officially becomes part of Microsoft, we would not expect any Android-running smartphones from Nokia ever.
