Upcoming Android phones 2014: Gionee may not be a household name all over the world, but in India it is considered as one of the better-selling smartphone brands in India such as Micromax, Lava and Karbonn. 

Interestingly, most worldwide leaders in terms of sales are nowhere to be found at the top of the smartphone chain, except Samsung which is currently at first place - though its success should be attributed to the manufacturer's lineup of entry-level and midrange devices. 

Now, Gionee will add another entry-level smartphone in the Indian market, and is tipped to be priced cheaper than usual. 

According to the report from GSM Arena, the soon-to-be-announced smartphone has been leaked online ahead of its official unveiling.

In the report, the smartphone allegedly appeared on Gionee India's website for a couple of minutes and was then taken down. Good thing our friends at Tech Gadgets have managed to screecap the page, and list down some specs as well. 

Dubbed as the Gionee Pioneer P4, the Android-powered handset will pack a 4.5-inch display with 854 x 480 resolution, a quad-core CPU clocked at 1.3GHz, a MediaTek SoC, 1GB of RAM, and 8GB of internal memory.

Also on board is a microSD card slot, a 5 megapixel rear shooter with autofocus, dual LED flash, and a 2MP front facing camera.

The Gionee Pioneer P4 will run on Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean out of the box and pack a 1,800mAh battery. That's certainly an outdated version, but we cannot blame the company because of the device's cheap pricing. 

From the looks of the device, it is certainly an entry-level smartphone. Those huge bezels from all sides only make it bigger than it actually looks. Let's see if the market will be interested in this kind of handset.
