Upcoming Sony Phones 2014: Xperia Z2 Release Date Moved To May? Could Spell Trouble For Japanese Company As Samsung And HTC Get Crucial Headstarts In Sales

Upcoming Sony phones 2014: If we will only consider the phone's specs and manufacturer reputation, the best Android flagship smartphone today is the Sony Xperia Z2.

It packs a 5.2-inch Triluminous display with Full HD resolution, 3GB of RAM, quad-core CPU clocked at 2.5GHz, Snapdragon 801 chipset and 20.7MP G Lens sensor which would surely be mouthwatering specs for gadget geeks and enthusiasts.

However, there is one very small problem - it has not yet arrived to the market.

Announced back in MWC in Barcelona in February, the device should have hit stores in the UK as early as the first week of April, together with the Samsung Galaxy S5, which gets launched in more than a hundred markets worldwide.

However, according to a GSM Arena report, it looks like Sony is having problems bringing the flagship devices from its factories to partner retailers and carriers.

In the image above, while Sony Mobile's UK website is accepting pre-orders, it tells buyers that the device may be shipped as late as May.

In comparison, the HTC On (M8), which was announced in March made its way to the market minutes after launch, allowing the Taiwanese manufacturer to bank on hype as the motivation factor of consumers to get the device.

HTC sure learned its lesson. Last year, while HTC announced the One (M7) earlier than Samsung did for the Galaxy S4, it released the device a couple of months too late. This led to Samsung snatching a huge percentage of sales for people who cannot wait a little longer.

In an industry that relies heavily on timing, Sony should solve whatever problems it is facing, and the company should do it now. If not, the Xperia Z2 will not be able to realize its full potential in the Android flagship competition.
