Upcoming Android Phones 2014: Gionee Takes A Page Off From Oppo's Book, Releases Elife E7 Mini With Rotating 13MP Camera, Midrange Specs, Costs $315

Upcoming Android phones 2014: When Oppo released its N1 smartphone in the latter half of last year, we thought they were making a huge mistake with its rotating camera. However, the actual product is superb and the build quality is top notch.

From then on, anything Oppo has been working on became a headline.

Now, another emerging manufacturer wants to bank on the Chinese company's success in order to push its own smartphone lineup forward.

Gionee, an India-based mobile manufacturer has just unveiled a midranger that looks okay, feels okay, and performs okay. But it has a feature that a lot of people would want to have - the rotating camera.

We are not sure if Oppo has filed a patent for the technology or not, but Gionee is definitely taking a page out of the Chinese brand's success story.

In fact, in the image, it even developed a similarly-colored smartphone, which is dubbed the Gionee Elife E7 Mini. Priced at around $315 or INR18,999, is the new Gionee handset worth the buck?

In the report, the Android-powered handset packs a 4.7-inch IPS IGZO display with HD (1280 x 720) resolution, an octa-core CPU running at 1.7GHz, 1GB of RAM and 16GB of internal memory. Unfortunately, there are no microSD card slots on board.

The smartphone runs on Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean out of the box, and is powered by a 2,200mAh battery that is capable of supporting up to 200 hours of standby time. The phone supports NFC and comes in both single and dual-SIM variants.

However, the main attraction is the rotating 13MP camera which highly resembles that of the Oppo N1.

So, do you think you are willing to spend more than $300 for a midranger with a rotating camera?
