Samsung Galaxy S3 Update, News: Android 4.4 KitKat Will Not Be Avail. To All Variants; No Rollout Date Up To Now

Samsung Galaxy S3 update, news: Android 4.4 KitKat is coming to the Samsung Galaxy S3, but not for all variants. Up to now, there is also no set rollout date for the smartphone. G for Games reported that some Samsung Galaxy S3 will no longer get the software update.

According to the report, one of the issues with the Android 4.4 KitKat update for Samsung Galaxy S3 is that some model has 1GB, while some have 2GB. 1GB of RAM seems to be not enough to download KitKat. Samsung Galaxy S3 variants that will receive the update include: GT-I9305; SHV-E210K/L/S; SGH-T999/L; SGH-I747; SGH-N064; SGH-N035; SCH-J021; SCH-R530; SCH-I535; SCH-S960L; and SCH-S968C.

Both G for Games and the International Business Times reports that the international variant, with model number GT-19300, as well as the SCH-1939 and SCH-S968C may not get the update. The said devices only have 1GB of RAM and that it’s possible that they maybe left out when the company rolls out the official update. Model number for an S3 handset can be found by going to Settings, the scrolling to About Device.

Android Geeks reported last week that the South Korean tech giant is already working on the Android 4.4 KitKat update for Samsung Galaxy S3 and Samsung Galaxy Note 2. This would have a possible rollout in April or May. The update will bring with it a lot of features including Samsung Galaxy S3 and Samsung Galaxy Note 2. It will have features that will include Location Settings, Default App Settings, a full-screen mode, wireless printing and more. Android KitKat OS was also noted to be more stable than Jelly Bean.

Samsung was way behind in releasing the OS update for its handsets, the Samsung Galaxy S3 included. Google announced the release of the KitKat OS late last year. Its rivals, HTC and Sony already rolled out the update early this year for their respective devices, the International Business Times reported. The Android 4.4.3 version of the KitKat OS will go to Nexus devices soon and Google’s annual I/O Conference will happen very soon. It will show off the new version of Android OS.
