Bill O'Reilly Stephen Colbert Feud Spills Over to `The View’; Bill O’Reilly Not a Fan Of His Altered Ego

Stephen Colbert is taking his act to The Late Show and Bill O'Reilly is not happy about it. O'Reilly is on a Dump Colbert tour recently took his Stephen Colbert bashing to "The View."

Stephen Colbert based his late night persona on Bill O'Reilly, rising to viral prominence during a hysterical Washington Press speech in front of then-President Bush. (Still my favorite of many favorite Colbert pieces - please google it).

Bill O'Reilly criticized Stephen Colbert on "The O'Reilly Factor" earlier this week. But he didn't stop there. He continued his anti-Colbert campaign against David Letterman's "Late Show" replacement during an appearance on "The View," complaining "He's more than a comedian. He's a mouthpiece for the far left," O'Reilly said. "I have  a pretty good relationship with Jon Stewart ... but Stewart's a different animal. Stewart will make fun of everybody. He sees things that are absurd on both sides. Not Colbert. He's a very committed leftist."

Barbara Walters reminded O'Reilly that Colbert's conservative character on Comedy Central's "Colbert Report" is based on O'Reilly. Colbert isn't continuing the character on The Late Show.

O'Reilly said "Colbert's gonna have to come out of his little persona where he snipes and makes these little snarky remarks, and he's got to be broader. That's not going to be easy for him to do. Will conservatives give him a chance? I think they'll sample. Why wouldn't you do it out of curiosity? But he's got to be funnier than the two other guys."

O'Reilly told Barbara he doesn't think "40 percent of Americans who describe themselves as conservative," will watch Colbert on "The Late Show."

On the Monday night broadcast of "The O'Reilly Factor," Bill O'Reilly answered a fan's question on CBS' choice of Stephen Colbert to take over late night from David Letterman. He said "Traditionally late night has been light and breezy, with a minimum of political posturing. But Colbert has built an entire career on pleasing the left. It'll be hard to fathom that 40% of Americans who describe themselves as conservative will watch Colbert. And that's a lot of folks to lose from the jump."
