Devious Maids Season 2 might end up surpassing "Desperate Housewives," the original series it was inspiration on, according to its creator Marc Cherry because he has a better idea of how his new baby will end. Meanwhile, cast member Susan Lucci, who plays Genevieve Delatour, is ecstatic over June Squibb playing her mother.

"The first thing I learned from my experience with Desperate Housewives was, know what your second season is before you write your first season," Marc Cherry said in a report from Toronto Sun.

"In terms of the creative, this ("Devious Maids" season 2) is much more rewarding for me," he added.

Marc Cherry narrated that when he did "Desperate Housewives," he lost track of the plot when he started season 2. In contrast to "Devious Maids" season 2 when the story is tight, taking some "tough lessons" along the way to bear dealing with this lovely group of gals."

For example, even before starting the first season, he already knew that Marisol will marry a rich man in the second season and will have a devious maid working for her, making Marisol one of the employers.

"She's moving on up, but she's got a lot of deviousness to deal with in her own house," Marc Cherry added.

Marc Cherry said that soap creators will hit a wall at one point in the long season where they just improvise out of nowhere, usually around episode 12 or 13, "because you've run out of stuff, you know? It just churns it up so quickly."

Meanwhile, Susan Lucci just couldn't wait for "Devious Maids" season 2 to start, particularly her on-screen relationship with a veteran actress.

"Something in this season I'm thrilled about is that June Squibb, the Oscar-nominated actress from 'Nebraska' has just been brought on to play my mother," she told Extra TV.

According to The Wrap, June Squibb will play Velma in a two-episode arc for "Devious Maids" season 2 which will premiere on Lifetime on April 20, with the first episode directed by Eva Longoria.
