While criticisms are fairly common when it comes to Hollywood movies, James Franco appears to still be affected with negative reviews. Ben Brantley, a theater critic from the New York Times, learned his lesson the hard way when the 35-year-old actor wrote an angry post on Instagram as a response to Brantley's review of the 'Of Mice and Men'.

"SADLY BEN BRANTLEY AND THE NYT HAVE EMBARASSED [sic] THEMSELVES. BRANTLEY IS SUCH A LITTLE B**** HE SHOULD BE WORKING FOR GAWKER.COM INSTEAD OF THE PAPER OF RECORD. THE THEATRE COMMUNITY HATES HIM," read Franco's Instagram post which eventually got deleted.

Brantley gave Franco's Broadway show a rating of 1. In his review, he criticized the 'Spring Breakers' actor's performance: "Though he sports a Yosemite Sam accent, Mr. Franco is often understated to the point of near invisibility. It's a tight, internal performance begging for a camera's close-up. And only in the play's second scene - in a bunkhouse, where Lennie retells George about the dream farm they'll someday own together - did I sense a warming current of affection between the characters."

The entertainment critic likewise wrote that he felt more emotion with the dog included in the set: "Though Mr. Franco musters a single, perfect tear for the play's tragic climax, I only came close to shedding one. That was in the first act, when a dog (a real one) is led offstage to be shot because it stinks. That dog seemed to have true fear and bewilderment in its eyes. It felt, well, human, in a way none of the people did, and my heart sank when I knew it wouldn't be coming back."

Franco appears to be a victim of social media recently. He likewise got involved in an Instagram scandal a few weeks ago when he tried to hook up with a 17-year-old girl using the photo-sharing website.
