Carrie Underwood Writing New Album; First New Record Since 2012 Carrie Undersood’s Blown Away Still Riding High

Carrie Underwood is working on her new album. According to media reports Carrie is in the writing stage of her new, much-anticipated album. According to a tweet by Radio.com, Carrie Underwood has been getting back to her first true love, songwriting. The "American Idol" winner has been writing songs "a lot lately" and she says "it's going well!"

Underwood hasn't released an album since 2012′s "Blown Away," which has been burning up the Top 20 Country Countdown with the song "Blown Away Medley!"

Carrie wrote eight of the 14 songs on "Blown Away."

The country superstar debuted a new song at the ACM Presents: An All-Star Salute to the Troops event last week. Underwood performed "Keep Us Safe" which she co-wrote with Luke Laird, Hillary Lindsey and Shane McAnally especially for the event.

Carrie Underwood has had the most successful music career out of any American Idol winner.

Carrie Underwood represented country when she joined Sheryl Crow and other rock and roll luminaries who paid tribute to Linda Ronstadt at her induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame at a ceremony in Brooklyn, N.Y. Cheryl Crow put out her first full country album last year.

Carrie told The Inquisitr, that she thinks women like Linda Ronstadt are the exception to the rule in the music industry. She said "We see new male artists have their first single reach No. 1 on the charts, but it generally takes a female a lot longer to build momentum. I know that I am an exception to this, but I [also] know that if I hadn't made my place in country music via 'American Idol,' I probably could have tried to make it for the rest of my life and never made any progress. We're the ones under the microscope We're expected to sound perfect. We're expected to look perfect all the time. We're expected to be style-setters, whereas the boys roll onto the stage in their jeans, T-shirts and baseball caps. I don't know what we all can do to change this. But I do hope it does change. I would love to see more women making their mark in the music that I love so much... There are so many more out there just waiting for their shot. I hope they get it!"
