Happy 25th Birthday to the Nintendo Game Boy. Today, April 21, marks the 25th birthday of the handheld video game device that started the world of console devices and even popularized the widely known game, Pokemon.

The first ever set of Game Boys were officially released in Japan on April 21, 1989 and August of the same year in the United States. Europe then saw this Nintendo Game Boy in their shelves the following year, September 28, 1990.

1. Tetris has been an all-time favorite game of many people by its simple yet mind blowing strategy which tops the ranking of the most played as it tops the most copies sold of 35 million copies since its release.

2. Pokemon, which consists of the series Pokemon Red, Blue and Green, which were the first Pokemon game released sold approximately 23.64 million copies worldwide. Other versions such as the Silver, Gold, Yellow and Crystal sold a total of more than 33 million copies.

3. Super Mario Land and Super Mario in particular has been Nintendo's trademark game has sold more than 18 million copies.

4. The Legend of Zelda, which includes the series Link's Awakening, Oracles of Ages and Oracle of Seasons sold a total of more than 16 million copies, including games for other versions of the Nintendo Game Boy.
