iPad Air 2: Alleged Images Of New Apple Slate Leaked Online, Rumored Specs Include Touch ID, Thinner Frame, Bigger Battery

iPad Air 2: Last year, a lot of people were hoping for the first Retina-powered iPad mini. However, it turned out that the biggest winner last year was not the smaller slate, but Apple's super-thin iPad Air.

And now, the Cupertino based company wants to bank on its success and launch an even thinner iPad.

According to a report by GSM Arena, several leaked images of the upcoming Apple tablet have made their way to cyberspace, and are now being feasted on by Apple fans.

So what do these images tell us? In the report, the images hint that the upcoming Apple slate would be even thinner than the already super thin original iPad Air.

Interestingly, the report also shows us that the in spite the alleged thinner design and build, the iPad Air 2 would get a bigger battery to last a lot longer than its predecessor. While we do not have an exact size for the battery, it only means Apple is hearing what its consumers and fans are saying when it comes to battery juice.

One of the images also gives us a glimpse of the front panel where Apple's Touch ID home button would be placed. The fingerprint sensor tech first became popular in the iPhone 5s, and the Cupertino company may have decided that it is time to bring the technology to a larger device.

In addition, the iPad Air 2 would also get the new A8 chip which is expected to support 64-bit applications like the older generation chipset.

Apple will be holding its WWDC event in June, so we can expect to know more details about the upcoming iPad tablet by then. So far, we have not read or heard any recent rumors or reports regarding the huge 12.9-inch iPad Pro, as well as the next generation Retina mini.
