Apple Earnings Call Preview Will Show How Many iPhones, iPads And Macs The Tech Giant Sold In The First Quarter Of 2014; See How Much Apple Made

Apple Earnings Call Preview: Tech giant Apple is set to call off their earnings for Q2 of 2014 on Wednesday 10pm UK time.

Analysts, meanwhile, are speculating what may possibly be the yay's and nay's of Apple in the first half of the year.

Before Apple Inc. would continue with their 2014 new line of products, CEO Tim Cook will be joined by CFO Peter Oppenheimer and Luca Maestri, who is believed to take over the CFO duties on June when Oppenheimer retires, will discuss the earnings of the company in terms of iPhone, Macs, and iPad sales in the second quarter of the year and would be answering questions.

With the recent release of the newer iPhone 5c with only 8GB capacity, believed to be underperforming in terms of sales, a series of questions and answers is expected during the Apple Earnings Call.

During Apple's last earnings call, Oppenheimer's forecast for this quarter's revenue was $42 billion to $44 billion, with a gross margin of between 37 and 38 per cent, which is believed to be significantly lower than the $57.6 billion Apple made in the first quarter.

With this the total earnings of Apple for the second quarter is expected to fall down based on the analysts' prediction.

The first fiscal quarter for Apple in terms of iPhone sales was a huge step for them, as they were able to sell a record-breaking 51 million units of iPhones and it was a given that the first quarter included the Christmas season.

This year however, a release of the iPhone 6 is expected from Apple and analysts are expecting that the earnings, though may not be as strong now will pick up in the next few months.

In terms of iPads, with the new iPad Air and newer iPad mini, analysts expect a more steady figure in terms of sales.

Taken from MacWorld: "In the second quarter of 2013, Apple sold a total of 19.48 million iPads. This year, the average analyst estimate falls just below that, at 19.36 million. The iPad Air and Retina iPad mini were still reasonably new during the quarter so we expect sales will have been lower than the 26 million iPads sold in quarter one but still strong and steady."

For Macs, a surprise in sales of 4.8 million units are sold during the first quarter but for the second quarter, analysts expect that the numbers may be the same or may be a bit stronger.
