‘The Hobbit 3: There And Back Again’ Faces Major Revamp; Peter Jackson's Trilogy Conclusion Now 'The Battle Of The Five Armies'

"The Hobbit 3" originally entitled "There and Back Again" face a major revamp as director Peter Jackson announced on his Facebook page that the third and final film of his trilogy will now go by the title "The Battle of the Five Armies."

Peter Jackson explained that the title "The Hobbit: There and Back Again" is more appropriate for the second film when Bilbo arrived at Erebor. But with the third film, the title seems "misplaced."

"After all, Bilbo already arrived 'there' in the 'Desolation of Smaug,'" he wrote.

So last year, during the promotional tour of the "Desolation of Smaug," Peter Jackson revealed that he had a conversation with the studio about the possibility of changing the title of "The Hobbit: There and Back Again."

"We decided to keep an open mind until a cut of the film was ready to look at. We reached that point last week, and after viewing the movie, we all agreed there is now one title that feels completely appropriate. And so: 'The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies' it is," he added.

According to the ontheredcarpet.com, the title "The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies" refers to the epic battle involving men, elves, dwarves, goblins and the shape-shifter named Beon, which was mentioned in the novel by J.R.R. Tolkien.

"The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies" is initially scheduled for release on Dec. 17.

The name change was first broke by the fansite OneRing.net last week but the title reported to being considered as an alternative to "The Hobbit: There and Back Again" is "Into the Fire."

This isn't the first time Peter Jackson and the studio changed things around,OneRing noted. The trilogy after all was meant only for two parts according to the names registered by New Line, "The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug" and "The Hobbit: There and Back Again." That changed by July 2012.

Immediately thereafter, the studio reportedly registered two names: "The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug" and "The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies," dropping the "There and Back Again."

But in August 2012, the studio and cast have been using "The Hobbit: There and Back Again" in its press releases, which meant that "Battle of the Five Armies" was dropped.
