LG G3 Release Date: New Flagship Gets 5.5" Display, 16MP Shooter, But Only 2GB RAM, Shows Leaked UAP File For Sprint

LG G3 release date: Now that Samsung, Sony and HTC have all made their flagship announcements, the only manufacturer missing from the big four is LG. The Optimus G Pro 2 is an absolute beast, but unfortunately it is only available in Korea to take on the Galaxy S5 head to head.

Meanwhile, what we are really waiting for from the 'other' Korean manufacturer is the LG G3, which would be the predecessor of the G2, released in September last year.

Indeed, some may argue that the release dates of succeeding generations of the same flagship device are too close. But considering how Samsung has been bombarding the market with new variations of its current smartphones, one would think that this is also a move in the right direction for LG.

According to a report by GSM Arena, a leaked user agent profile of the upcoming flagship device has surfaced and has made the rounds all over the Web.

Previously, we thought the G3 would get 3GB of RAM, but the UAP document bound for Sprint says the device would only get 2GB of RAM for multi-tasking.

Fortunately, the downside in RAM is greatly compensated by the improved camera resolution. Recent leaks have been pointing to a 13MP primary camera, though the UAP says the LG G3 would get 16MP sensors instead.

Still, the leaked UAP could still be a carrier specific model for Sprint. If that is the case, then we would assume that the LG G3 would come in several varieties which would fit the bill for different types of consumers.

In previous reports, the LG G3 is said to boast a 5.5-inch display with QHD or 2K (2560 x 1440) resolution, a Snapdragon 801 chipset, and a camera that is capable of 4K recording.

The newest addition to the LG smartphone lineup would be unveiled some time in May.
