Zac Efron Rehab Reason Not Just For Cocaine? 'Neighbors' Actor Says Being In Hollywood Means 'Everything Is Thrown At You' Which Makes Friends Doubt His Sobriety

Months after his rehab stint, many are still worried about Zac Efron's sobriety. Recently, the Hollywood heartthrob has been involved in an altercation is Los Angeles, California which he deemed as one of the scariest moments of his life.

While it has been reported that the 26-year-old actor was searching for a restaurant, some couldn't help but think that it was perhaps Zac Efron's rehab reason which brough him in the area notoriously known for drug dealers.

"I had a friend come pick me up late at night -- we were looking for a place downtown to get a bite and catch up. We were having trouble finding somewhere - a lot of places were closed - and the car ran out of gas off the 110. It was ridiculous. We had to pull over, and I called Uber," he told the Hollywood Reporter.

"[While waiting] a homeless guy, or vagrant, tapped on the driver's-side window. Before I knew it, he [my friend] was out of the car, and they started fighting," he continued.

He likewise said that the homeless man was carrying a knife. When he tried to disarm the man, he got hit in the face. Fortunately, local policemen arrived to stop the "most terrifying moment" of his life.

Even if some of the 'Neighbors' actor's friend questioned his sobriety, he talked about his path to recovery. Instead of coming up with excises, he admitted to drinking "way too much" paired with intake of drugs.

"It's never one specific thing. I mean, you're in your 20s, single, going through like in Hollywood, you know? Everything is thrown at you," he said which indirectly affirmed that Zac Efron's rehab reason was not only for cocaine.

Aside from continuously attending Alcoholics Anonymous meetings, he also undergoes appointments with his therapist. Although he says that he is in a much comfortable state now, he recognizes that what he's going through is a "never ending struggle."

Efron's former girlfriend Vanessa Hudgens has likewise expressed concern for the 'High School Musical' actor's struggle: "She still cared about Zac. They were together for five years, and practically grew up together. She has minimal contact with him these days, but has tried reaching out to him this week to find out what's going on. She hasn't been able to speak to him, though."

'Hairspray' director Adam Shankman is also one of Efron's positive influences. The director reportedly plays the role of "life coach" and continuously urges Efron to seek help if needed.
