For the first game of the double-header, the Mariners will throw out their former Cy Young award winner in Felix Hernandez will be on the rubber. Since going 3-0 with a 1.91 ERA and 39 strikeouts over his first four starts, Hernandez (3-1, 2.53 ERA) has allowed 12 runs -- seven earned -- with 14 strikeouts over 18 innings in his last three, all losses for Seattle, according to ESPN.com.

The right-hander struggled as he battled the flu Friday, giving up three runs with three walks and a hit batter over a season-low five innings in a 5-4, 11-inning loss at Houston.

"He didn't have much strength going out there," manager Lloyd McClendon said. "He battled and gave us five innings. I didn't know what we'd get out of him. I knew he was drained."

His counterpart will be Dan Straily (1-2, 5.01). After allowing four runs over 13 innings in his first two starts, Straily has gone 0-1 with a 6.52 ERA in his last four as he tries to stop a sixth straight loss at home for the A's.

"Anything less than five innings really is just unacceptable," the right-hander said. "I've got to do better than that."
